These days, so many people are complaining about the Patriot Act. What about their rights, they ask. It's wrong, they say. Those paranoid freaks are infringing on our privacy, they complain.
Well, in my opinion, here's the deal. I think that it's all right for the government to increase their power in order to get rid of criminals. Just think: many people are complaining that the government is not protecting the citizens from terrorism, but yet they still refuse to give the government more power to address this need.
And does it even matter that the government is going to listen in on our private conversations and whatnot? No one's going to care about your secret affairs; the government is not looking for juicy gossip, just criminal activities. The only reason why you would be scared is if you've been doing illegal stuff, in which case that's wrong and you should stop immediately.
Sure, the act may infringe on some of our constitutional rights. But that's the price you pay for protection, eh?
